NET Exam

Organized by University Grants Commission or UGC National Eligibility Test or NET is organized. This examination is conducted for those candidates who wish to pursue Doctor of Philosophy or PhD. This examination started in the year 1989, December and in 1990, March for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship respectively. The purpose of this examination is to see whether a candidate who wishes to pursue Doctor of Philosophy is eligible or not and whether he can adhere to teaching standards expected in colleges and higher learning institutions. Eligibility Criteria

# The candidates interested in pursuing Ph D should clear NET and for this they need to pass Masters programme in any discipline

 Pattern of Examination

# There will be three parts in every question paper

# The examination would be conducted on the same day in 2 parts

# The Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted during the morning session

# The subjects on which questions will be asked in Paper 1 are- Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Reading Comprehension and Divergent Thinking

# The subjects on which questions will be asked in Paper 2 are- Chosen by candidate

# In Paper 1, there will be 50 MCQ’s or Multiple Choice Questions

# The duration of the Paper 1 will be seventy five minutes

# In Paper 2, questions with short answers will be asked on the subject chosen by the candidate

# The duration of the Paper 2 will be seventy five minutes

# In afternoon session, another paper needs to be solved

# This paper will be descriptive

# The duration of this test will be 150 minutes

# A booklet will be provided for the answers
